It's been so long!

Hey guys!

I know I haven't posted in a while but I've been busy watching the IT Crowd and playing Minecraft! Hooray for the school holidays!!!!!!

How awesome is this creeper necklace! It the AWESOMEST gift ever!

And to the right you'll see the sign we put on the door of the school
computer room! We waste our lunches away in there!

This is probably the most recent picture. We went out to dinner at a French restaurant, and mum ordered some Absinthe for dessert! The fire on top is burning sugar into the drink. I was excited because both the IT Crowd and Black Books refers to it...both written by Graham Linehan! Sorry for the bad photo it was dark, and my editing skills aren't that up to scratch!

Speaking of Black Books...this is what we did to my friend's brother's coat! 88 degrees post its everywhere!

Well that's pretty much everything!!!!!!! See you, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Japanese Dollar Stores

Hey guys!

I just thought I'd let you know of these awesome shops.

Tokuya and Daiso are 'Japanese Dollar Stores', and pretty much everything is $2.80, and I can guarantee that for the Tokuya I go to. Everything is imported from Japan and there are some really cute things there. There are a lot of practical things, such as lunch boxes, drink bottles and umbrellas as well as hosiery and socks. Basically, these places are mini supermarkets. Their crockery is really cool and cute, and believe it or not, they sell doorknob and table leg covers!

I suggest you type 'Tokuya' or 'Daiso' into your favourite web browser.

Good Apps

Hey guys! I thought I'd make a list of good apps you can get on iPod touch and iPhone.

Top 10 iPod apps:

1. The Impossible Game
A great, very hard game. You can have a go at the lite version on the impossible game's website, but don't download it, only download the full version.

2. Temple Run
A great app, really addictive. If you want a game similar try Subway Surfers.

3. Tiny Tower
A great, simple, low quality game. You run a tower block and build floors, earn coins, and make sure your floors are stocked. Try and match up your 'bitizens' with dream jobs and what they're good at while keeping an eye on 'bitibook'.

4. Pocket Planes
Similar to Tiny Tower, but with airports. Choose a start city, level up and build more airports in more cities and fly planes around the world.

5. Radiant Defense
A game of, obviously, defense. Build weapons to block aliens from reaching the spiral, and create more of a maze to slow the enemy down.

6. Bejeweled
A great game of swapping jewels to make three in a row. Match up more to get powerful gems, and have a go at the other themes available.

7. Cut The Rope
A great game of strategy to get the candy to the little candy eating monster, Om Nom.

8. Pimp My Screen
A great app for a range of photos for awesome home screens, app skins and awesome lock screens, and customisable screens.

9. Bag It
A hugely addicting game of strategy. Pack the items in line making sure you don't crush any! Unlock 'Rampage Mode' to unleash your rage by crushing as many items as possible.

10. Paper Toss
A great game of, believe it or not, physics. Throw the paper and make sure you take into account the wind resistance from the fan!

Okay, 10 was a hard limit, but some other cool apps are TonePad, Pac Man, Space Invaders Calculator, 100 Floors, Logos Quiz, Minesweeper, Scoops, Sky Burger, Grid Lens and Dear Blank Please Blank.

Resident Evil: Retribution

I went to see Resident Evil: Retribution a few weeks ago. I love the previous films since I received the first one on my birthday. I thought it was a good film, and could definitely see the movie scenarios as a video game, despite the fact the video game plots are quite different. I am desperate to play the games, and have been looking up the gameplay on youtube. I thought that the film was a bit of a fill in the gaps sort of thing, as it set up the final installment of the series. It's not a film you can go and see without seeing the rest of the series, as there is a lot mentioned and significant characters from the last films.

I watched Ed Wood (directed by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp) and Dead Man (also starring Johnny Depp) the other day. Ed Wood follows the story of the director Ed Wood. It is a great film, filmed in black and white. I first thought it was going to be pretentious at first, but it turned out to be great. Its acting style and cinematography are done like an old film and the credits are pretty much directly from Plan 9 from Outer Space. Dead Man is also in black and white, with a great soundtrack by Neil Young. The film is interesting in the sense that it is a series of vignettes put together to make a storyline. We follow William Blake in this film, who ends up having to escape from death, and meets an Native American called Nobody along the way.

I definitely recommend you see both these movies, found in the Arthouse or World cinema sections of the video store.

Oh, and by the way... www.iwastesomuchtime.com is an awesome site! You'll find links to others there!

Neil Armstrong Dead!

I was sad to find out when I checked the weather this morning that the headline on bigpond was that Neil Armstrong was dead. He was 82. It's sad that he's dead, because he was the first man on the moon, and I'd always known him to be alive, even though I'm still a kid. Luckily, Buzz Aldrin (lunar module pilot on Apollo 11 and second man on the moon) and Michael Collins (command module pilot on Apollo 11) are still around to remember him. :'(

The Dark Knight Rises

I went to see the Dark Knight Rises today! I enjoyed it, and recently recapped by renting Batman Begins from the video store. Anne Hathaway played the part of Catwoman, and was everything I would imagine Catwoman to be. I managed to get the plot straight in my head, as I was piecing it together in the action scenes, which didn't require much attention after the primary ones.

I enjoyed the movie, and I would recommend you go and see it! Not to mention play hide and seek in Ikea!

There are some STRANGE facts out there!

I was bored so I started to look up "things that you don't know", and was greeted by tons of websites which had masses of weird but awesome 'facts'. I found out that 315 entries in the Webster's dictionary are misspelled, and that 101 Dalmatians and Peter Pan are the only Disney cartoon movies where you see both parents and neither of them die throughout the film!

Disclaimer! Haven't actually checked any of these!

Creeeepy

So we were picking up some friends from a hotel and the corridor was almost exactly like The Shining! I was really scared! I was walking down the corridor hunched over! I was just waiting for blood to come out of the corridor and two creepy twins to appear! We left the hotel at about 1 in the morning, and these people were coming down the hallway, and someone yelled, "Hello down there!" it was really funny!

The Oriental Tea House

Today I went to the Oriental Tea House on Little Collins Street, Melbourne. There is an amazing range of teas and teapots to buy, and the great thing is that you can try the tea before you buy a box. They do a Yum Cha service, but not on Sundays, like today. I had the Clay Pot Chilli Dumplings which were quite impressive, and Honey Pepper Steak, which was great too. If you don't want to buy a box of tea, there is a vast tea range on the menu. The walls are high, but drop down near the counter where a top floor with more tables is situated.

I would recommend this restaurant for a nice day out in the city.

Pottermore Insider Site Updates

For a long time people have been asking when the Chamber of Secrets is coming out on Pottermore. I have been answering comment about this with: Go the www.insider.pottermore.com, and look to the sidebars. There will be a sidebar saying "Site Updates" and click on pottermore, then you will see updates on the progress of CoS.

Another regular question I see posted in my common room are about help with dueling and brewing. With dueling: make sure you be as accurate as possible, and waiting until the ring around the letter is biggest. REMINDER: You can only practice against your house, not win points against them. With brewing: make sure you read the instructions very carefully and be cautious. I am aware that you only have a certain amount of time to prepare, but make sure you don't confuse the measure counter. The best potion to brew is a Sleeping Draught: as it gets you 11 house points, the largest reward of all the potions. It uses Valerian Sprigs, Lavender Sprigs and Flobberworm Mucus, all costing 1 galleon from Diagon Alley. With a copper cauldron (the fastest cauldron, pewter being the slowest), it must be left to brew for 53 minutes.

TIP: Make a potion, and while waiting for it to brew, duel and duel and duel!

Le Petit Gateau with a hint of Tiny Tower

So I heard about this place called Le Petit Gateau. It's a cake shop, and their cakes look AMAZING! I'm hopefully going there on the weekend, so I'll keep you guys posted on how it is.

visit www.lepetitgateau.com.au for more details. The gallery is definitely worth checking out, the cakes look AMAZING (better refrain from saying that one more time)!

I've now got 35 floors on tiny tower and anxious to reach 50! For those of you who don't know, in Tiny Tower, you basically run a skyscraper, build more floors, keep businesses stocked and rent residential floors out to 'bitizens'. Instead of facebook, there is bitibook, where bitizens will post about their lives, about when they have to restock the floors they work on, and some references to other Nimblebit games, as well as some rather funny comments. It's a free app for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad, and suggest you get it immediately! It's an awesome game!

Cloud Animals

How cool is this? I just saw these huge clouds out of the car window and spotted this teddy bear shaped cloud!

An Exciting Time of Year!

Well, bonjour!

Everyone on Pottermore are really excited for tomorrow's results, and there are a lot of contradicting posts about the scores. For more details on this, refer to the older post about Pottermore, but I am pretty sure housecup.info has it covered. They now have (or I just noticed) a sign saying that 'at ... time, ..... was leading .... by .....', so we have an idea of when this was. Houses can jump infront of each other very quickly, so keep on dueling and brewing! I think the claws and puffs are reluctant to duel, but brewing certain potions (like the sleeping draught: 11 points) can get you way more house points than dueling.

UPDATE: Last time housecup.info was updated was (2am PST).

And just one little thing before I go...

I went to Oz Comic Con, and it was AMAZING! There were tons of things to buy, and I came out with 3 badges (Keep Calm and Don't Blink, The Game and S.P.E.W: Society for the Promotion of Elflish Welfare), a MARAUDERS MAP (very accurate indeed), and a little postcard saying 'Keep Calm and Call Sherlock! Unfortunately, Stan Lee wasn't around after the 2 and a half hour wait in the ticket queue, and neither were any other celebrities, but oh well. I am DEFINITELY going next year, in FULL costume (haven't decided what of yet) and DEFINITELY seeing awesome people!

I won't be posting for a while because I'm going away (without my computer! I will die!), but you might receive an early morning post on the Pottermore results before my flight!

Pottermore: SO EXCITING!

I'm in Slytherin house and I'm really excited at the moment, as the Pottermore house cup is going to be revealed on Thursday, the 5th of July. I have been brewing and dueling nonstop! The house points have been covered up until the big day, but some people are getting glitches where they see the house points when the page is loading. You can visit housecup.info to keep tabs on the scores, but they aren't always accurate, and apparently it's only updated every eight hours.

I have heard that there are spies in some houses, and are reporting peoples comments. This is quite annoying for everyone on the receiving end of all this.

Well, I think that's all I've got to say for now. The photo you see is the best spell potency I have ever gotten! YAY! Got it just today!

P.S. The Chamber of Secrets is rumoured to open after the house cup is announced! EEEEEK!

First Post

Hey guys! This blog is (hopefully) going to be me posting stuff on topics like Pottermore, Doctor Who, movies, TV shows and my life (don't worry, it's not that boring, *I hope*).  See you soon!
